Editing an image with AI

Tap Edit with AI on any image tile. A panel opens with a text box and quick chips: Warmer lighting, More steam, Cleaner background, Brighter, Cinematic.

The rule

Words tell the AI what to change. A reference photo tells it what it should look like. Use words for light and mood; use a reference for your actual food.

How it works

  1. Type what you want changed, or tap a chip and refine it.
  2. Hit Generate edit. It takes 10–30 seconds.
  3. A new variant lands at the top of your Library and the viewer jumps to it.
  4. Edit again from there if you want — each pass makes another variant.

Nothing is overwritten. Run three lighting options, compare, keep the one you like.

Showing it one of your dishes

Type “change the pasta to our agnolotti del plin” and the AI only has those words — so it invents a generic stuffed pasta that looks nothing like yours. Hand it a real photo instead.

Under the prompt box, Reference image (optional):

  • Use a dish — search your menu and pick one. Its photo becomes the reference. Only dishes that already have a photo work.
  • Upload — any image from your computer: a plating shot, a mood board, a background you want.

Then write the prompt as an instruction about the reference — “replace the pasta with this dish”, “use this background”. The AI keeps the table, the hands and the light, and changes only what you asked.

Good to know

  • Short and specific beats long and hedged. “Warmer lighting” works; “a bit less warm, lean toward cool” confuses it. One change per go.
  • If a result misses, try different wording rather than piling on qualifiers.
  • A reference costs the same as any other edit — no surcharge. Uploaded references aren’t saved to your Library.
  • Occasionally the AI can’t use a reference photo. It falls back to your words and tells you so, rather than silently ignoring it.
